My Current Haircare, Cut, & Color

Welcome to the hub of all things pertaining to my current haircare routine! If you’re wondering what I’m using as of late in any of my reels, YouTube videos, etc. then you’ve come to the right place. I regularly keep this page updated with what products I’m currently using, how I use them, and why. I’ll make sure to include my daily concoction of products I use, tools I style with, and the brushes I use as well. All those items come together to create the perfect hairstyle!

I’m going to break this down into 3 separate sections:

  1.  Shampoos & Conditioners
  2.  What I use before blow drying
  3.  My styling tools
  4.  What I use after blow drying

I will also be including an extra section at the end of this post with details from stylist Chris Jones and hair colorist Emily Cooper from Salon Bugatti in The Woodlands, TX. Be sure to read through to the end for details on my haircut, color, and more tips to take to your own stylist.

1. Shampoos & Conditioners

Recovery by Virtue – This shampoo is a bit thicker and a little bit goes a long way. I love it but as someone with fine/oily hair I don’t always want this one on my roots so I would say only use it if you tend to have hair that is less oily and more dry.

Tonique by L’ange – This shampoo is tried and true for years by me – great if you have an oily scalp or buildup quickly between washes. It isn’t as thick as Recovery but I like using it on my roots and then Cascade or Recovery from midshaft to ends.

Restorative Shampoo by LolaVie – I came across this one at Ulta Beauty and actually saw it was being promoted by the actress Jennifer Aniston. She’s known for having gorgeous hair of course so I tested it out and I actually like it a lot! I didn’t need a hydrating shampoo since I’m set with the Goldie Locks one but this is a great shampoo to rotate with a hydrating one.

Ultra Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner by Goldie Locks – This is a very hydrating shampoo so if you have oily hair, you may not like using this often. I love that the ingredients are very clean and it does a great job of hydrating my hair without weighing it down!

faq: How Often Do You Wash Your Hair?

I typically wash my hair every three days; thanks to this concoction, my styles last me until the next wash, with a few products in between on day 2 and 3 hair to help control static, oil, etc. When I do wash, I don’t always use conditioner or a deep conditioning treatment – if my hair is feeling hydrated, healthy, and soft, I usually will forego the conditioner but I’ll still use my daily concoction afterwards. These help with frizz, volume, holding a curl, battling humidity, and they provide hydration. HOWEVER if my hair is feeling a little more dry or there’s breakage that I can feel, I will make sure to follow up with conditioner after shampooing my hair in the shower.

2. What I Use Before Blow Drying

Now when I say daily concoction, I don’t mean it literally – just on the days when I wash and blow dry before styling. I’ve been able to train my hair to go longer in between washes so I typically wash my hair every three days and on wash day is when I’ll use my concoction. I love using these four hair care products each time as they each have something to offer when styling short hair or any hair for that matter. Most of the products included are from L’ange and can be found on their website under the Hair Care tab where you can also view other L’ange hair products for different hair types. My daily concoction consists of the following four products:

Swell thickening cream & Sorbet leave-in balm together offer frizz control, help holding a curl, hydration, and added shine/softness. The Salt & Sea spray provides texture for hair and the Create 6 in 1 Styling Cream is the cherry on top for texture and heat protection.**

One analogy I like to use when talking about hair and using the right products for it is it’s like seasoning your meat. You wouldn’t throw the meat directly on the grill without the proper marinades or seasonings – the same goes for hair! Using the right products before blow drying is going to help your hair hold a curl and helps style to last longer.

3. My Styling Tools

I say tools to style “short hair” because these are what I’ve tested and loved for my own short hair. I can’t say too much for those with longer hair but I will encourage you to experiment and test out products to find what your hair likes as well as needs. Remember that what works for some may not work for others!

There are a few different curling tools I enjoy using and regularly rotate through them depending on the curl I want for the day. Above are all tools by L’ange that I have tried & love for styling short hair whether it’s curling, at-home blowout, or a sleek straight look for the day.

The flat iron I used to use by L’ange is no longer made so I’ve been on the hunt for a solid one to share with you all. One option is a flat iron I recently bought and tried out –  NuMe Tourmaline Flat Iron if you’re in need of a solid flat iron.

The Rootie is a tool I’ve shown on my social channels & tutorials – I like using this to add volume at the root of my hair before styling.

faq: How Do You Keep Your Hair Healthy?

I get asked about how I keep my short hair healthy and truly the answer is I feed my hair! If you keep up with me elsewhere besides just my blog, you’ve probably heard or read my posts stating feed your hair.” What I mean by this is dig deep and find what your hair needs for styling purposes and always make sure to keep it hydrated. One of the easiest ways to do this is by drinking lots of water and keeping your body hydrated in that sense but your hair will also tell you what it needs if you pay close attention. Your ends may be a little dry or there might be breakage – does it need some oils for hydration or a deep conditioning treatment? Does it simply need a trim to keep things in order? If you listen close enough, you’ll hear what your hair is hungry for!

Aren’t sure which haircare products are right for you? Check out this Healthy Hair Guide I created to help give a bit more direction into finding what products are right for styling hair, maintaining it, and giving your hair what it needs. I also have a L’ange Hair Care Guide I created as L’ange hair products have been my jam for a while and I’ve been able to test their products pretty well over the years!

4. What I Use After Blow Drying

Here are some extra hair/haircare products I like to use in between things, depending on how my hair is feeling. These extras can be anything from pomade to create more separated curls to dry shampoos for battling any oil in between washes. I’ve also made sure to include some products for hold after styling too and the links to shop if you’re wanting to try them out at all. I don’t use these every time I style, it just depends on the day and the look I’m going for.

styling aid: Pastes

Semi-Matte Putty by Atlas – This paste is perfect for men’s hair but can double for women’s hair. It’s quite tacky and can definitely give short hair a piecey look.

Badlands by R+Co. – Badlands is the most unique out of the four pastes above. It’s meant to be a dry shampoo pomade but must be used in a specific way for best results, especially when using it on the roots. I love the gritty texture it adds for the ends of my hair when styling.

Salt & Sea Pomade by L’ange (DISCONTINUED) – If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ll recognize this one as I’ve loved this for some time now. This is probably my favorite of them all for having medium-fine hair and lots of it. I love the tack it has but also the ability to use it closer to my root without making it feel greasy.

6-in-1 Styling Paste by Virtue – This one has a creamier consistency and would definitely keep it at the tips of the hair only. It does a great job of giving the hair a piece-y look without the grit so if you want more soft/less texture in your hair, this is the way to go.

styling aid: for Volume & Hold

Beach Club Texture Spray by IGK – I love this spray for texturizing styles and adding a bit of product to help hair hold its style without feeling too heavy.

No. 26 by Kenra – I’m picky with what hairsprays I use and have tested many, this one included. I think it works great and it does have a super strong hold so keep that in mind if you’re looking to try it out.

No. 14 by Kenra – If you don’t love the super strong hold No.26 has to offer, you might enjoy No.14 more. This hair product has a light hold and won’t weigh your hair down.

Extras Not Pictured

Stardust dry shampoo powder by L’ange – lightweight powder dry shampoo to help styles and hair last between washes.

All In the Details: The Cut, Color, & Maintenance

And we are back to a BLUNT BLONDE BOB!

Going from lighter to darker is easy, but also going to dark back to light really takes some work. It’s not easy for the stylist to achieve their full goals on the first time if you want to keep healthy hair. Which is a MUST for me!

When we cut my hair this time around, we knew we wanted a blunt bob since that was something I’ve really liked from all the haircuts Chris has given me. If you’re new here, most of my haircuts are done more for education’s sake to help teach how to communicate clearly with your stylist, find what you want, and be happy once you go home.

Details on the Color from Emily Cooper (@emilycooper_hair)

Below are details on the new color done by the amazing Emily Cooper (@emilycooper_hair on Instagram) – check it out so you know exactly what was done!

Emily had her work cut out for her on this one! My head was so heavy with all the fouls. She will be doing her own reel regarding everything she did and Chris will be giving his own take on the cut so follow them on Instagram @emilycooper_hair and @chrisjones_hair for more as they’re super educational in all they do.

3 FAQs I Get Asked About Hair

As your go-to hair educator, I’ve taken it upon myself to become as familiar as possible with haircare, hair tools, hair styles, you name it, specifically for short hair. There are 3 questions I do get asked the most by my audience and I wanted to put them in one place to address them for you, so let’s get into it!

1. "Are you still an affiliate with L'ange?"

Let’s get into the nitty gritty of this question because I get asked this the most often; the answer is YES! I am a current affiliate with L’ange Hair and therefore, I’m your go-to hair girl when it comes to understanding which products you should try. I am a firm believer in sharing the things I love and I make it a point to avoid sharing random finds, or items I haven’t tried, loved, and become obsessed with myself.

That being said, L’ange doesn’t quite have everything I need for my hair. I began my affiliate journey with L’ange when they were a new company and I knew they didn’t have all the products I was looking for, but I had hoped they would add more proudcts as time went on. While they’ve created some amazing products over the years, L’ange still doesn’t have all the ingredients I need to feed my hair so this lead me to look elsewhere.

My relationship with L’ange is still standing and I will continue to share and use some of their products that have become my must-haves, but they and I knew I needed to incorporate other products into my hair which they were currently missing and didn’t have to offer. On top of needing other products, with all the research on my stomach and gut I’ve been doing, I found I’m allergic to sunflower oil. There are so many products and foods that have this ingredient in it which meant I had to find replacements for products I had been using. This is a big reason why you won’t see me using only L’ange products!

2. "What hair tools do you use?"

I get asked all the time about the hair tools I use for styling; I use multiple hair tools because it’s just fun and I love the option! In order for you to achieve the look you want on the day you want it, using the same tool every day won’t give you the different looks I love to have.

That being said, I think there are a lot of hair tools that work great! That’s why you always see me using a flat iron, Le Duo (from L’ange Hair), a curling iron, curling wand, the Le Volume (also from L’ange), etc. I love to have different looks all the time – that’s what I think is so fun about having short hair. The possibilities are truly endless for the looks you could create!

3. "Will that haircut work for me?"

One of the things I’m always sure to mention throughout my hair tutorials is I have fine hair. I’ll get a lot of thick-haired gals or curly-haired gals ask me if my hair cut will work on their hair type. My answer is YES, but when you speak to your stylist they might tell you that you need to go longer than the look I have because of the shape of your face. They also might tell you they need to do your layering or texturizing differently because of the texture of your hair. Usually someone with super fine hair needs to have hardly any layers because it will thin out the hair and make it appear even thinner. A person who has thicker hair can have layers but the stylist needs to make sure they do not pull the layer too short because it will sit differently within the hair itself and it will spring up since the hair isn’t as weighed down.

Your stylist NEEDS to have the knowledge behind cutting short hair and must be willing to change the hair cut based on your needs. Taking pictures and videos to your stylist is KEY. Finding an example of what you want on someone with your specific hair type as well is a bonus and can guide your stylist to understand what you want and the end result.

"FEED YOUR HAIR WHAT IT NEEDS."

I truly believe in this – you NEED to be able to understand what your hair needs in order to achieve whatever hair goals you have. I absolutely love teaching my audience tips and tricks for their hair and I want to be a resource for you. Here’s a couple things you can lean on from me:

1. My Current Hair Care Blog – I keep this updated constantly with my hair care favorites, go-to tools, and my current hair cut and color as well as details from behind the scenes. Make sure to check out the guidance I give there as it will keep you in the loop!

2. Understanding What Your Hair Needs – This was a LIVE I did on YouTube; I go over how to use hair products correctly for your hair type, thinking it through for what is your hair type, what problems you have with your hair, and how you can solve said problems with product to help maintain your hair in the long run is super important. Hair products need to be broken down to key things; placement of the products DOES matter as well. Remember, the use of your hair products needs to be broken down as if you have a combination hair type, just like with your skin. Always remember to feed your hair!

Sunscreen Guide

Cover Photo for Sunscreen Guide

It’s time to share my sunscreen guide with you! Sunscreen is a very important part of our daily routines – at least it should be. You can use this guide with some rock solid sunscreens that I texted out for months for all different skin types in different weather climates & situations. One huge reason I put so much time into this guide & method was because your sunscreen can truly act as a primer when used right! No longer do you need to just put it on without any thought behind it because let’s face it, who loves how sunscreen feels on their skin? On top of that, sometimes we use products that truly don’t take care of our skin or have better ingredients in it. Our faces aren’t a one-size-fits-all so why treat it as if they are if we aren’t taking care of the skin for what it is. This includes sunscreen and makeup!

With this guide, you’ll find answers to issues you’re having with your sunscreens & great options for your skin type. As much as we love the sun, it can have harmful effects on our skin and the best way to protect it is by wearing a sunscreen that will protect you from harmful UV rays. There are so many choices on the shelves at the store, so which sunscreen is right for you? I’ve created this guide to help you as you choose the right one that will offer your skin the protection it needs, work with your skin type, and work well with your day to day activities!

The sunscreen guide that I’ve put together contains different types of sunscreens that I have tested myself on my own skin. As I’ve always reiterated, it’s important to keep in mind everyone’s skin is different so what works for one person may not work for another. Make sure to find the right sunscreen for your skin type! For more skincare tips, check out my skincare guide here.

Sunscreen Guide (below)

My goal for you is to use this guide to find great options for your. Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, or combination skin, sunscreen won’t be an issue any longer! I personally use 2 sunscreens each day for my oily and dry skin. I put specific ones in key places and I’m set for the day. This is the order I apply my morning routine since I’m able to use what is just right for my face using less layers & products:

After washing, I use Vitamin C serum, let it dry completely & absorb, then moisturizer ONLY on dry places & the troughs under my eyes. Next I apply sunscreen and lastly my cream foundation from Seint

Using sunscreens that work best for you is a game changer. Also, using sunscreens that work WITH your skin & truly being intentional with it will change the game of your makeup too.

Ultimately, my goal is to help you find your top sunscreens and no longer feel like you need a moisturizer AND spf in one that doesn’t fully serve you. Why? Well, because when you use products that are all in one, you can’t choose the quality of what you are putting on your skin. It also doesn’t help you take care of the skin type you have in key places & give your skin what it fully needs there so you don’t end up feeling oily.

I hope this guide can serve you well and you find exactly what you need as you go through it! I think you’re going to love the options I’ve given and leave a comment or email me at fitmissionmakeup@gmail.com if you have any questions!

Adjusting to Changes: Hair, Skin, & Nails

adjusting to change: hair, skin, and nails

Change is Coming...

adjusting to change: hair, skin, and nails

The weather is changing and depending on where you live, your hair, skin, and nails are probably feeling those changes now. It’s time to listen to your body! Nights are growing colder and the mornings are getting frostier as the days go by, which can feel brutal on our hair and skincare, especially.

Changes in the weather mean changes at home and also changes in your body. You don’t need to wonder when or how either because your body will literally show you what’s going on with it! As it grows cooler your hair and skincare may start to show you what’s happening by becoming drier, itchy, etc. You might experience worsening rosacea, acne, and other skin irritability on your face and/or scalp. Winter hair & skin issues may be inevitable but they are still preventable!

As the weather gets colder, drier, & more harsh, our hair, skin, and nails are in need of lots of extra TLC! The extra layers, turned up heaters, and cold air/winds outdoors can all be contributing factors to unwanted changes elsewhere. Sometimes all that is needed is an easy adjustment in adding a step or two to your regular hair and/or skincare routine. You may even need to implement a new product for the season to keep things balanced.

Listen to Your Body!

I recently had the opportunity to go LIVE on Instagram with my good friend and amazing esthetician, Racquel Frisella. I came across Racquel after seeing a friend and noticing how incredible her skin looked – who doesn’t want great skin?! From there, I got in touch with her and she gave me a free skin consultation (similar to how I do free color matches to Seint makeup) which led to where I’m at now. I love the products Racquel has recommended for me and I’ve seen such a huge change in my skin – it all came down to finding the right skincare routine and products for me. If you missed the LIVE, make sure to watch it below for some solid tips regarding skincare and hydration as well as what to expect in your hair, skin, and nails as winter creeps in.

The following are products either mentioned during the LIVE  or products that I believe are a great place to begin with Racquel’s skincare products!

HA Peptide Serum | Face Oil & Cleanser | Gentle Cream Cleanser | Radiant Vitamin C Serum | Growth Factor Serum | Lux Pads | Koji-C Pads

Expectations, Solutions, & Hydration

One of the biggest culprits to unhappy skin as the weather changes is lack of hydration. All that harsh cold winter air and lower humidity can cause your skin to try to make up for the lack of moisture. Your skin will do this by either overproducing more oil to hydrate the surface or it could become flaky/prone to inflammation.

Hydration Tip (for body): Apply moisturizer IMMEDIATELY upon stepping out of the shower and towel/pat dry – your skin may be a little damp still but the level of hydration you get is night and day difference from applying to dry skin. I’ve been doing this with my Aveeno body lotion and wow has my skin been hydrated longer thanks to it. Try it out!

Hydration Tip (for your face): You might instinctually reach for your exfoliator when you start to notice the dryness, inflammation, or redness. Let me STOP you there! Ask yourself, “When was the last time I exfoliated?” Now is the time to reflect rather than react quickly & it is the prime time to focus more on hydration! If you don’t use a Hyaluronic Acid of some sort, below is one of my favorites by Racquel Frisella, her HA Peptide Serum. Hyaluronic Acid is one of the easiest ways to start adding more hydration to the skin; to read more about the benefits of HA, click here.

Don’t forget to give the rest of your hair & skin extra TLC, not just the skin on your face! Below are a few lotions and potions I use, especially in the wintertime, for any dry hands or cracked skin on my body. These are also great to keep handy next to your bed or to take on the go for those hands! If you’re loving what you currently use for your hair, but you’re finding it could use a little more love, incorporate a hydrating hair masque to your shower routine. Whether it’s a homemade masque or your favorite one from the salon/shop, nourish those locks as much as your skin. Make sure to drink lots of water and if your hair is just feeling dull, spruce things up with a hydrating oil. I linked a couple that I love below as well!

Layered Bob Hairstyle

layered bob haircut
layered bob haircut

The layered bob hairstyle you see is my most recent short hair cut by Chris Jones (@chrisjones_hair on Instagram). In the past, I’ve stuck to more of a textured bob hairstyle which is more of a blunt cut. This time we switched things up and at first I wasn’t loving it completely, but now I’m in love with the layered bob! Whether you go with a simple blowout style or jazz things up with some curls, the layers in this short hairstyle look beautiful. To see more about this cut by Chris, scroll to below!

I always recommend doing solid research on hairstylists who specialize in the hair cut you’re looking to get. For example, in my case, I would need to be checking reviews of short hair stylists who have executed the layered bob, textured bob, or other short haircuts I’m looking to possibly get. Check their social media pages, reviews from previous clients online, and be clear with what short hairstyle you’d like once you’ve contacted them!

Styling a Layered Bob Haircut

Since I’ve gotten home and been able to play around and style my new layered bob hairstyle on my own, I’ve found these four products by L’ange have done the trick: Glaze hair lotion, Sorbet smoothing balm, Posh hair polish, and Salt & Sea texturizing spray. This covers my bases for heat protectant, frizz reduction, and volume! To see how I use these products on a layered hairstyle for best results, see the video below!

Keep in mind, blow drying vs. air drying can make a huge difference in how your hair feels and holds up after styling. Using little to no product can leave your hair falling flat faster, but having too much product weigh your hair down too. Blow drying helps to spread the product evenly throughout your hair and will help give you volume, especially if you have or are going for a layered bob, or any short hairstyle for that matter.

Make sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook if you’d like more hair tutorials – I’ve also got plenty on my YouTube channel! I hope this is most helpful for you in seeing and understanding this layered bob haircut/short hair style a little better and I hope you rock it out!

Here are some Seint Beauty FAQ’s that you may have with all the answers in one place! If you’re on the fence about getting a custom color match to Seint makeup, hopefully this can answer whatever questions you have and bring some clarity regarding Seint official and their makeup!

Throughout all my years as a Seint artist, I’ve had the opportunity to color match and work with countless incredible souls. I’ve recorded so many tutorials regarding how to use Seint makeup and covered so many topics; I figured it was time to answer some of the most frequently asked questions all in one place to hopefully help answer any questions that you may have. Whether you’re new to Seint or a long standing customer, here are your questions answered!

What is Seint makeup?

Seint makeup is a cream-based product which includes cream foundation, contour, blush and lip colors (aka lip & cheeks), and more. While most of Seint’s products are cream-based, they do have an assortment of mostly powder eyeshadows, with a handful of cream colors.

Is Seint makeup good for mature skin?

Seint beauty is truly incredible for most if not all skin types. It is a cream-based foundation which means it works especially well for those with mature skin. Seint makeup can be used to achieve a light application to a full coverage look.

How do I choose my Seint foundation colors and build a custom palette?

Building your custom makeup palette with Seint official is easier than ever before, just get started with a color match HERE! As a trained Seint artist, I can color match your skin tone to the right shades of Seint foundation and give recommendations for your contour, eyeshadows, and more. All you have to do to get started is submit a makeup free photo here on my website and I’ll send over your custom Seint color match within 24-48 hours!

Why do I need more than one Seint highlight color?

Everyone’s skin tone is different, but more often than not, our skin is not one color/tone. You may see darker tones, you might see lighter tones. The IIID foundation is named accordingly as the makeup is meant to enhance the beauty that’s already there and provide a more natural look in comparison to other foundations within other makeup companies.

Why is my Seint contour hard?

The formula for the Seint Official contour colors is a little different than the other cream products but a trick I’ve used for years now is letting my palette warm up in direct sunlight to help the longevity of the makeup last all day as that is an area that can get rubbed on more. I warm it up in sunlight until my colors are soft enough to be applied. You can also run a blow dryer lightly over the top of your tin to warm up the cream and soften the contour for application. If you ever need to melt down your tin to soften it out or refresh it, using a candle warmer works great as it’s not too hot and is easy to use.

Is Seint makeup TSA approved?

Yes! This is yet another reason I love Seint makeup – no more worrying about measuring out your liquid foundation when traveling. Since the makeup comes in a palette and most of the products are cream, you don’t have to worry about being stopped in airport security! It’s all in one compact – foundation, contour, lip colors, eyeshadows, etc. and it’s that easy.

Does Seint have a skincare line?

Yes! The Seint cleanser, toner, and creme are sold separately or they can be purchased in a bundle along with Seint microfiber cloths. If you are new to skincare and looking for somewhere to start, the Seint skincare collection is the perfect place for you to begin. You can shop Seint’s skincare HERE. To learn more about skincare and how it goes hand in hand with your makeup, check out my Skincare Blog Post here!

Do I have to buy Seint makeup brushes?

Seint Official makeup brushes are specially curated to go hand in hand with the cream-based makeup. They make all the difference in the world and can help you achieve the makeup look you want depending on how it’s used, which brush is used, and what methods you use to apply Seint makeup. You can start off with a couple brushes or you can get the Brush Collection! Keep your brushes safe using the Brush Holder and cleaning them regularly.

How often should I clean my Seint makeup brushes?

I recommend cleaning your Seint beauty makeup brushes at least once a week and giving them a good deep clean once a month. Using the Seint Brush Cleanser, spray a paper towel or washcloth directly and lightly sweep/swirl your brushes over the towel to remove product build up. I use Dawn dish soap to disinfect my brushes once a month during their deep cleaning, making sure not to soak the brushes or press down too hard onto any brush mat that I use to clean them.

Photo of Seint Official makeup brushes

How do I become a Seint artist?

I always recommend trying the makeup before signing up to be a Seint artist – it’s important to know and love the product before sharing it with others! If you’ve tried the makeup and have decided to become an artist, all you need to do is sign up on the Seint Official website. There’s no experience needed and becoming an artist is all about creating the business YOU want! This can be a side business for you or it can become a full time occupation, depending on how much time you commit to building it. Click HERE to read the 2022 Artist Income Disclosure Statement for more information regarding compensation.

Do you use a primer with Seint makeup?

Primers aren’t always necessary but choosing the right products to prep your skin for your makeup is! You can use a sunscreen, setting spray, or normal primer before your makeup application – it doesn’t matter which one you use, but it does matter whether or not it’s made for your specific skin type! The key is less is more –  the more product you layer on your skin before applying your Seint makeup, the harder it will be for your makeup to adhere the way you want.

I’ve put together some of my recommendations for primers categorized by skin type; for COMBINATION – OILY SKIN options, click HERE. For NORMAL – DRY SKIN options, click HERE. For dry skin, I also recommend the Seint Setting Spray!

Should I moisturize before applying Seint makeup?

The cream-based makeup contains ingredients that help moisturize and lock in moisture so not much else is needed, however if you have skin that is typically more dry, you can definitely moisturize before applying your Seint makeup.Make sure to only apply it to your driest areas and give it time to fully absorb into your skin before continuing with your makeup application.

Photo of Seint Official makeup ingredients

What are Seint Demi Correctors?

Seint said it best:

“Demi Correctors is a carefully calibrated saturation of cream color that is strategically applied using a featherlight technique. Most of your skin remains untouched, resulting in an undetectable makeup that reveals the magic of your face.”

“Analyze the colors present in areas of your face you want to correct for, then utilize color solving to select shades from your palette to filter out any excess colors you don’t want, and infuse your skin with a natural luminosity.”

“Using a Seint brush, apply a light touch of Demi Corrector directly to the places on your skin that need color correcting to achieve a flawless finish without layering and add texture with makeup.”

Skincare Guide Pt. 2 : Hyaluronic Acid & Gentle Facial Cleansers

cover photo for gentle facial cleansers and hyaluronic acid blog post by Jocelyn McClellan & Fit Mission Makeup
cover photo for gentle facial cleansers and hyaluronic acid blog post by Jocelyn McClellan & Fit Mission Makeup

On the daily, I work with women one on one to troubleshoot and understand their skincare and makeup.  Most of the time we deal with makeup and why they cannot get the look they want from it.  When it comes down to it, we always have to ask ourselves “what condition is the skin in?”  If you are someone who feels like you cannot get your skincare to where you want it to be or you don’t know where to start with skincare, here are two key things that we can start focusing on today: gentle cleansers & hyaluronic acid.

Importance of Gentle Cleansers & HA

In regards to gentle cleansers, are you using one?  There’s a good chance that your skin might be getting too worn out or mad at the cleansers you are using.  You want to have one that is gentle, especially if you have sensitive skin or are going through changes within your body (illness, allergies, menopause, etc.).  A gentle cleanser can make it a little easier on your skin and make all the difference in the world for your makeup!

That being said, some people do use gentle cleansers but are not noticing a change in their skin. Depending on your skin type, you might need just a little more TLC! One other thing you can introduce into your skincare routine is Hyaluronic Acid.  Hyaluronic Acid helps build up collagen as well as reduces fine lines and wrinkles.  It also does an excellent job of training your skin to retain moisture!

Gentle facial cleansers & hyaluronic acid skincare guide for Fit Mission Makeup blog post by Jocelyn McClellan SEINT artist

Having a gentle cleanser as well as Hyaluronic Acid &  just focusing on those two is a great place to start instead of incorporating a bunch of skincare all at once. It takes time for the skin to ease into it all so remember to add little by little to your skincare routine! Big changes to the skin can have big reactions but you can start with these two and see how your skin likes it.

What changes should I expect in my skin?

Keep in mind these products within the guide are not all tried and true by myself but a lot of research went into finding solid gentle facial cleansers and hyaluronic acids. When researching, I chose products that were rated well & had trustworthy reviews.  I made sure to include medical grade & over the counter brands as well.  Don’t forget the importance to test out a gentle cleanser for 4-6 weeks before you give up on it…unless you are seeing a drastic sensitivity immediately. After implementing a gentle cleanser & hyaluronic acid into your skincare, the difference you should be noticing is your skin waking up and not feeling so dried out.  You should be achieving more of a natural glow within your skin.

REMEMBER: These are just 2 key pieces to a solid skincare routine. If you have any serums or moisturizers that you love and you know your skin needs, keep using them! Having a gentle facial cleanser & a solid hyaluronic acid isn’t the only way to getting the skin you want, but they are two key components to a great skincare concoction!

Are you someone who feels like this is the place where your skin needs to be at?  Make sure you comment on this blog post or email me with any questions that you may have at fitmissionmakeup@gmail.com.  We want to make sure your skin is happy so you can have better results with your SEINT makeup or any makeup for that matter; without setting the foundation of a good skincare routine, you will never be able to achieve the makeup look you are desiring. I’m here for you though and happy to help! For more details and tips on skincare or building a solid skincare regimen, make sure to check out my Skincare Guide here!

I’ve thrown in a little something from everything…home, beauty, wellness & fashion and more. Whether you’re looking for a special something for mom, grandma, your sister, or ideas for yourself – these birthday favorites for sure be a winner! If you try them out or have any suggestions for me to try, leave a comment and I will for sure check them out!

Home & Lifestyle

birthday favorites

1. Turkish Towels: I love these because they’re way more compact than regular towels for on the go & sand doesn’t stick to them like a regular towel which makes it easier to take to the beach.  Not to mention, these are so cute!

2. Stonewall Kitchen: Holy crap- these are dangerous for me. I can’t get enough of their goodies! Seriously, if only you could see my pantry. Stonewall has sauces, marinades, jams, pancake mixes, you name it – it’s all gold!

3. Topanga Laundry Detergent:  I’m a huge lover of all things scents & when it comes to my laundry, I love a lingering scent of a good detergent but I never found what I wanted until the last few years. It’s not just a laundry detergent, it creates an emotion and is so memorable.  It is a luxury item so one cool thing about it is if you want it to last longer, you can take any unscented pod or liquid detergent and add a little bit to your Topanga detergent because truly a little bit goes such a long way in regards to scents!

My favorite scents from Topanga are Hollywood + Vine (cedar, bergamot, black fig, woodsy, but not too masculine of a scent), Malibu Pier (very masculine, spicy, woodsy/musky), Bel-Air (floral, amber, patchouli, chocolate, reminds me of a detergent I found years ago called Diva Wash) and The Grove (very fruity, fresh, floral, sandalwood, citrus notes). Use code JOCELYN when purchasing!

4. 5 Minute Gratitude Journal:  I love this because at least I’m journaling something & it’s a pretty one you can put on the shelf to reflect on how far you’ve come every year! It’s not pictured in the graphic but I love it! This is a birthday favorite that could work for any occasion really.

5.  PhoneFin: I have tried so many different phone accessories that allow me to hold my phone easier as I love such an active lifestyle and work from my phone a ton, too – PhoneFin is one that I have come across and loved for a while now! I currently have another accessory on my phone and I can’t wait to switch it out with a PhoneFin because it just gets the job done!

6. Casetify: The thing I love most about these cases is that they are durable, available in a variety of customizable cases, and lots of fun designs/colors to choose from!

Beauty & Wellness

Jocelyn's Favorite Things, hydroflask, buxom lip gloss, sunset riot allsaints perfume

1. Buxom gloss in Samantha: This color is truly the best, especially if you have dry lips or just feel the need to have a solid gloss over your lip color.  It’s a great pinky-nude that adds just the right sine without taking away from the color you have there already.

2. Trigger Point Roller & Lacrosse Ball: Rolling truly helps my body everyday! Without it, my muscles are in so much pain; when I do roll out one side of my body’s muscles, I can feel which side of me is looser and working better vs which side is tighter.  Rolling muscles is something you have to ease into & make sure to ask a doctor first just in case! The Lacrosse ball is great for rolling smaller muscle areas like the feet, palms or to pinpoint smaller spots.

3. Rechargeable Fan: Not only is this a birthday favorite, but it has been a must have in my purse, backpack, car, everywhere! I have multiple of them and have loved them since I bought them! They are not too big and not too small.  Plus, they are rechargeable!

4. Water Bottles: I’m the type of girl who won’t get her water intake met unless she has a filled water bottle by her at all times.  I’ve searched high and low for a good water bottle that had a handle and didn’t leak and made it easier to haul around.  Here are a few of my faves: Simple Modern TumblerHydraPeak RoadsterStanley Flip Straw Tumbler, Hydro Flask Flex Cap Tumbler

5. Sunset Riot by AllSaints: For me, one thing I look for in a perfume is a scent that is both masculine & feminine – AllSaints is just that. It’s one of my favorite things that I gift to others as well because it works for anybody truly!  I could best describe it as musky, hints of cedar wood, orange flowers & pink peppers yet it’s still fresh.

Fashion

Jocelyn's favorite things, nike air max, freepeople overalls, madewell ballcap, canty boots, freebird boots, booties, marc fisher, nordstrom

1. Nike Air Max: I recommend sizing up about a 1/2 size, but I love how comfy & stylish these are!  Definitely a shoe that stands out & gets attention.  You are not just wearing a regular running show with your jeans, you are styling up an outfit!

2. Cowboy Boots: I’m a huge lover of Canty Boots; she takes old boots and restores them to become something new more like a booty instead of a boot.  I also love Marc Fisher booties (especially these in black and these in cream) & Freebird – they have my heart!

3. Ball Caps: I love a good ball cap and here are a couple of my favorites from Madewell & Addidas. I love how a good, simple ballcap can change up an outfit and these are both good quality hats to have on hand.

4. Burns Saddlery: These hats – I can’t stop & won’t stop wearing them! The quality is rock solid; you can customize your hat so it is a little hard for me to quote a price on that but if you are wanting a REAL cowboy hat, this is the place to go!

5. FreePeople Overalls: These overalls are one of my favorite pairs right now!  I love all the fun colors they come in and are very true to size.  I did do a dryer test and they do indeed shrink a bit but not too much – might be something to consider!

6. Levi’s Jean Shorts: Last but not least, these shorts! I love them so much that I bought them in multiple colors – so fun and the perfect length for someone like me with long legs. Not to mention, they’re the great quality that Levi’s gives so definitely worth trying out if you’re on the hunt for some solid denim shorts!

Healthy Hair Guide

Dry brittle hair, split ends, you name it, it’s annoying! Are you doing all the things and nothing seems to be working with improving the overall health of your hair!? You do the hair treatments and your hair still breaks…or maybe you added in a serum and your hair is still brittle? Girl, I got you! Sometimes we do too little to achieve healthy hair and other times we accidentally do too much.  I definitely want you to check out the article I came across on how protein buildup in our hair effects our overall hair health. It was an eyeopener for me and I hope it helps you too!

One thing about hair and skin is there are always ways we can improve things that we may not know or think about. In this blog post, I wanted to hone in on key things that can truly make an impact. On top of that, I wanted to include things you can use to actually help your hair. These are great tips & products to have on hand from super soft hair elastics to hats that can block out the wind and even UV rays. How’s your hair these days? Could it use a little bit of extra protection?  You aren’t alone!

Click here to read this article I found. It’s super insightful regarding something you might have thought about,  & that is how to tell if your hair has too much protein in it (it can happen and it can dry your hair out!).
