The Thanksgiving Tree

The Thanksgiving Tree: Our Family Tradition

Its a busy time of year… but a simple time of year to find what we are most thankful for! The “Thankful Tree” is one of my favorite things for so many reasons. It reminds myself and my family of what we have to be grateful for, it brings an atmosphere of gratitude into the home as we lead into the holidays, and it allows us to see everyone’s growth throughout the years whether it be by what we were thankful for or through the handwriting over the years. I’m a sucker for these kinds of sentimental things and it warms my heart to revisit the memories when we put up the Thanksgiving Tree each year!

Why Do We Do It?

I want MEMORIES of gratitude.

I want the kids to think about it.

I want our family to kind of journal in a way.

It’s the perfect time if only but once a year to write down and reflect the little things.

So this is how it goes – you can do it in any way you’d like and if you make it a part of your family’s traditions this holiday season, let me know how it goes!

Over the years I’ve used lots of different materials to bring our Thanksgiving Tree to life; this tree I decorate with things for fall, but in a way they can stay up going into the full “Christmas Tree” season so I don’t have to take anything off. We just add to it after Thanksgiving passes with more decorations. Here are some of my favorites I’ve found others may like to create their own Thanksgiving Tree tradition:
